多数人都相信，如果他们拥有目前所没有的东西，将会是更快乐、更安全、更被爱或更祥和的。他们开始采取行动以取得自己想要的东西，然而当时他们并不是处在自己所渴望的状态。

许多人终其一生都在追求自己没有的东西，而且从来没活出过自己想要的状态。的确，当我们清楚地意识到自己仅仅是在追求快乐、寻觅快乐的时候，快乐就远没有抵达我们的心境。

人类共享着一项事实：我们都在寻求幸福快乐。幸福快乐一向跟生存的种种需求有关。比如说，我们都需要遮风避雨的屋顶，三餐食物，健康的子女或是美满的关系。许多人把幸福快乐跟成功、富有或美貌画上了等号，其实我们可以毫无条件地感受到快乐的。

有些人寻求的是一份更高的幸福形式，并称之为‘至乐’，即一种全然幸福的状态。至乐是一种没有任何理由就感觉很快乐的心境，也是幸福与自我的最高展现。无条件的幸福、快乐或者至乐，与我们目前的处境或易变的情绪无关。至乐乃是一种情绪彻底平衡的存在状态。

你或许会问：如果没有快乐的理由，我为什么会感到快乐？难道生而为人不足以令你快乐吗？难道存在的本身不是一件快乐的事吗？是啊，与动物植物相比，与已经逝去的生命相比，生而为人和活着本身就是一件值得庆幸的快乐的事.

TIPS FOR A BETTER LIFE

1. Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day. And while you walk, smile.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
3. Sleep for 7 hours.
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
5. Play more games.
6. Read more books than you did the previous year.
7. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.
8. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
9. Dream more while you are awake.
10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
11. Drink plenty of water.
12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
13. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
14. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
15. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
16. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
17. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
18. Smile and laugh more.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
22. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
23. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about. Don't compare your partner with others.
24. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
25. Forgive everyone for everything.
26. What other people think of you is none of your business.
27. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
28. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Valentine's day, girls and boys are holding flowers on the street everywhere.

This Valentine's Day, cupcakes are the new heart-shaped box of chocolates. Nothing against heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, we love them too, but cupcakes tell that special someone you're a 21st-century, game-changing kind of sweetheart. The gourmet cupcake trend really took off back in the late '90s when HBO's Sex and the City series name-checked New York's Magnolia Bakery. And so far, the cupcake trend only seems to be spreading. Cupcake aficionados tend to be passionate sorts, arguing whether the icing should be a thin layer or piled high, the cake palm-sized or one-bite. But we say, what's to fight about? Cupcake is love in flour and icing. Here's a select list of top cupcakeries around the U.S.

在西方人看来，星期五是不吉利的日子，在这天，有些人会因为恐惧而下不了床，还有些人会拒绝乘飞机，买房子，甚至购买胜券在握的股票。而如果星期五与13 号重合，那就是特大倒霉日了。因为在这一天人们不会像往常一样乘飞机或做生意，商业损失可达8到9亿美元。他估计在美国这种恐惧折磨着几千万人民。

德塞是一名民间传说史学家，他也是《恐惧和乐趣》的作者，他说对于黑色星期五的恐惧在远古就根深蒂固了。星期五和数字13都代表着坏运气，两个不幸的个体最后结合成超级不幸的一天。

德塞把对13的恐惧追溯到一个有关12位神在他们的天堂瓦尔哈拉殿堂进行宴会的挪威神话。没被邀请的洛基是宴会上的第13位客人，他到达那儿之后，便让黑暗之神Hoder用带有槲寄生尖端的箭射击快乐喜悦之神Balder。Balder死了，整个地球都陷入了黑暗和哀伤之中。从那一刻起，数字13便成了不祥之兆。

在圣经中也涉及到不吉利数字13，背叛耶稣的传道者犹大是最后的晚餐中的第13个客人。同时，在古罗马，传说中聚集了12组巫婆，而第13个被认为是恶魔。

纽瓦克特拉华大学数学和科学教育资源中心的科学家托马斯·费斯勒说，数字13遭遇如此不幸是由于它的位置在12之后。按照费斯勒的说法，数字科学家认为 12是一个“完全”的数字，一年12个月，黄道十二宫，奥林匹斯山12位神，赫拉克勒斯12劳方，以色列12个部落，以及耶稣的12位传道者。而超过12 一点点，13就“稍微超过‘完全’一点点”，这个数字就变的不安定。

对13的恐惧在现在仍然很强烈，根据德塞的调查，80%的高楼没有第13层，很多机场漏过了第13扇门，医院和旅馆通常没有房间号13。在意大利的佛罗伦萨街道，门牌号12和14之间是12.5。在法国闻名的十四行诗社交名流中，他们曾经认为自己能够成为宴会的第14位客人就可以摆脱一种不幸的命运。

至于星期五，它是知名的基督徒耶稣被迫害的日子。有些圣经学者认为伊芙诱惑亚当食禁果也是在星期五。或许最重大的一种信仰，是认为该隐在13号的星期五杀害了亚伯。

Lisa Hannigan

Lisa Hannigan出生于1981年2月21日，来自爱尔兰一个名叫Kilcloon, Country Meath的小镇。她在大学里主修艺术史（Art History)，但是还没有完成学士课程，她就离开大学投入了自己的歌唱事业。

在 2001年初，她开始了她的音乐事业旅程，成为了在欧美颇有名声的Damien Rice的伴唱。她在Damien Rice的两张专辑-O还有9里献唱了不少的歌曲，而且在2001年到2007年期间，一直跟随着Damien Rice在欧美两地作了不少的巡回演出。在这些演出的期间，Lisa Hannigan不只是担任伴唱而已，在不少的演出里，她也同时担任了吉他手，贝斯手，还有鼓手。

在美国的巡回演出期间，Damien Rice获得了空前的成功，不少的歌曲被收录进许多电影原声带。较为有名的歌曲，比如The Blower's Daughter就成为了Closer电影(由Clive Owen,，Jude Law，Julia Roberts还有Natalie Portman主演)的主题曲。Lisa Hannigan和Damien Rice合唱的Valcano单曲也在美国获得了不俗的反应。这也让Lisa Hannigan在美国逐渐地建立了一些名气。

在 2007年3月26日，因为在音乐理念上的分歧，Damien Rice单方面终止了与Lisa Hannigan的合作关系。自此，Lisa Hannigan也离开了Damien的乐团，并组成自己的乐队，将自己在这7年里的创作，慢慢的整合起来，做了不少的Demo。终于，在2008年9月 12日，Lisa Hannigan完成了并发行了她的第一张个人创作专辑〈Sea Sew〉。〈Sea Sew〉在爱尔兰获得了热烈的反应，在发行的首个星期就登上了爱尔兰专辑销售榜的第三位。Lisa Hannigan在美国所建立的名气，也让她最近和美国ATO Records唱片公司签了合约，预计将在2009年1月初全美发行她的〈Sea Sew〉专辑。

Lisa Hannigan的歌曲和歌声就有如她的外貌般，美丽，亲切，同时带着独特的优雅气质。〈Sea Sew〉不论在音乐上还是歌词上都是充满着创意和生命力的一张专辑。它的感染力之强，让人觉得就像是听着一个可爱少女，说着一个又一个简单朴素的故事，没有曲折离奇的情节，却又是那么的触动着个人心旋。一首首类似乡间民谣的歌，有快乐的，温馨的，悲伤的，但很奇妙的，听完了整张专辑，我的表情是微笑，那种心中充满温暖感觉的微笑。
